FEMA Information
​In 2024, Clay County, Iowa, experienced significant flooding from June 16 through July 23, leading to a federal disaster declaration (FEMA-4796-DR-IA). This declaration made the county eligible for various FEMA assistance programs. ​

Funds are allocated for the Bridge located on 240th Ave, south of Greenville. This community group is seeking more details about the FEMA funds that are designated to repair the bridge.

​FEMA funds are designated for specific disaster-related repairs and cannot legally be reallocated without FEMA approval. If Clay County requested FEMA funds for the damaged bridge, the money must be used for that project unless:

The county can formally request to use the funds for a different project, but FEMA must approve the change.

This is usually only allowed if the original project is no longer needed or another project is more critical for disaster recovery.
