What to expect and what is happening:
-
A "Bridge Task Force" has been formed in collaboration with the Clay County Board of Supervisors to maintain close communication with the supervisors as we continue to advocate on behalf of concerned community members. The task force includes Team Bridge members, supervisor representatives (Barry Anderson & Randy Swanson), and the Clay County Engineer. The task force will discuss community concerns, grant opportunities, and the FEMA process.
-
Representatives of the larger group of concerned citizens (Team Bridge) will communicate regularly with the Clay County Board of Supervisors.
-
Representatives will continue to research the FEMA process and timeline.
-
Representatives will research additional funding options, such as grants for historical bridges in Iowa or private funding resources.

April 17, 2025 - Barriers were put up at both ends of the bridge. This is not a permanent road/bridge closure. This was a directive of the Clay County Engineer for "the safety of the traveling public based upon the bridge's current condition.
